Special Education K-6 Teacher (Maternity Leave Replacement with Potential for Permanent Position)

Job Overview:
Chapel Hill Academy is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education K-6 teacher for a maternity leave replacement. The position will begin ASAP and extend through the 2024-2025 school year, with the potential for a permanent position following the leave period based on school needs and performance. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have diverse learning needs and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs in alignment with state and school guidelines.

Plan and deliver differentiated instruction that meets the varying needs of students.

Work collaboratively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other support staff to ensure students are receiving appropriate accommodations and services.

Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction as needed.

Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and IEP goals.

Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and required documentation.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.

Valid teaching certification in Special Education (K-6).

Experience working with students who have learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and/or developmental delays is preferred.

Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.

Ability to be flexible and adapt to the needs of each student.
