Diane Somers, Director of Chapel Hill Academy, has been recognized by ASAH, a statewide membership association comprised of more than 130 specialized schools. In November, she received the 2019 ASAH President’s Award for her leadership and vision.
“Diane is a mentor, a role model and advocate for all,” said Dr. Steven Morse, ASAH President. “She understands that a rising tide lifts all boats. She is actively involved in promoting the needs and interests of special education students, not just here in New Jersey, but nationwide,” he stated.
“I am beyond humbled,” said Ms. Somers, who has been in the field of special education for more than 40 years. “I love what I do and believe that every child has potential to achieve, and deserves the chance. I am proud to support ASAH and the larger community of educators who share that belief.”
The President’s Award is given annually and recognizes a special education leader who goes above and beyond to advance the mission of ASAH and to promote the needs of students with complex disabilities.
