Reaffirming Our Commitment to Student-Centered Education
Dear Chapel Hill Community,
At Chapel Hill Academy, we are proud to be one of the schools that exist to meet the individualized needs of students whose disabilities cannot be fully addressed in traditional public-school settings. Our mission has always been rooted in providing a nurturing, student-centered environment where children can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Federal law requires that students be placed in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), the setting in which they can achieve the best success. For many of our students, that setting is here, among a community of supportive educators, specialists, and peers who understand their unique learning styles and behavioral needs. Placement decisions are made through the IEP process, guided by the recommendations of child study teams and informed by the unique needs of each student rather than public opinion or policy trends.
The outcomes our students achieve speak volumes. At Chapel Hill, students make measurable gains in self-esteem, independence, academic growth, and emotional regulation. These life-changing milestones underscore the necessity and value of specialized educational settings like ours.
We understand that conversations about special education placements can spark questions and concerns. That’s why we want to take this opportunity to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to doing what is best for each student. Every program, strategy, and support system we put in place is designed to ensure our students thrive, not just in the classroom but in life.
As always, we remain partners with our parents and public-school districts —here to answer your questions, listen to your concerns, and work together to support your child’s success.
